Christmas 2003 Top: Tom, Vonda Bottom: Zander, Nikki, Zach

ABOUT US

My name is Vonda. I am a software engineer for a medical equipment company. Among other things, I design software that can detect hearing loss in infants (and persons who are unable to respond to traditional hearing tests) by recording the brain response to different types of sounds. I am a die-hard Cub fan and a former X-Files fan (from the pre-movie days). In addition to birds and computers, I enjoy digital video editing and digital photography. I am also a member of the NFSS.

My husband, Tom, is a computer programmer for an international corporation located in the area. He writes statistical software that helps analysts to forecast sales. We’ve been married since 1997. Tom is a devoted Steelers fan as well as a talented craftsman. Without his abilities, the new and improved aviary would be no more than a pipe dream.

We have two sons: Zachary, born in April of 2001 (see Zachary’s Home Page); and Zander, born in June of 2003 (see Zander's Home Page). Zach loves sports, trucks, and Thomas the Tank Engine. He already can identify many of the finch species from the pictures in my finch books. Zander loves trying to get into places he shouldn't be. His favorite things are small tiny crumbs he can pick off the floor and stick in his mouth.

We have been keeping finches only since March 2000, although I feel as if they’ve been with me my whole life. In addition to our birds, we have a yellow lab named Nikki (see Nikki’s home page), and a very old goldfish named Athos (Athos doesn’t have a home page-Sorry).
